OXO French Press

A modern take on the traditional cafetiere

05 Apr OXO French Press

The first thing that impressed me about the OXO French Press was how sleek and modern it looked.  It has a sturdy stainless steel housing that contains a gorgeous traditional glass carafe.  It also has soft, comfortable non-slip grips on the handle and on top of the filter plunger that make it easy to hold and pour.

The OXO French Press not only looks great, but is designed to make the process of cleaning up after a cup of coffee an absolute breeze.

In the body of the OXO French Press, features an innovative ladle called ‘the groundskeeper’.  This is a fantastic feature as it catches and contains the ground coffee once brewed and removes the used grounds in one easy step.  This is pure genius as it makes the cleanest French Press I have ever used.

The groundskeeper is simply placed inside the glass carafe, the ground coffee is then added and then hot water is added using the convenient measurement markings for guidance. It then needs to be stirred well.  Fineset coffee makers, Douwe Egberts suggest during this process the coffee should be stirred in a cross pattern rather than round and round, so all coffee grounds will gain maximum exposure to the water, thus ensuring an amazing cup of coffee is made.  It then needs to be brewed for four minutes and then plunged and poured to make the perfect cup.

When finished, the groundskeeper is lifted to remove the leftover grounds from the carafe in one easy step.  There is no scooping, banging or scrubbing required.

Another top tip from Douwe Egberts is to pre-heat the French press with boiling water before use to help coffee stay hotter for longer and to improve the flavour.

This  fanatstic OXO French Press is available in 8 cup/2l size.

To tantalise your taste buds even further when using the OXO French Press is to use it with Douwe Egberts’ wonderful collection of 6 gourmet blends and strengths of ground coffee.  Their collection offers coffee lovers a selection of taste notes and strengths.  Each flavour is created through a subtle combination of the finest different coffee beans.

The 6 flavours are:
House Blend (Strength 3)- a smooth, full bodied European-style coffee
Time Together (Strength 4)- a deliciously spicy blend with a hint of vanilla and nut
Café Milano (Strength 3)- a smooth, laid-back blend with a hint of spice
Flavourful Decaff (Strength 3)- a smooth, full bodied blend with hints of vanilla and chocolate
Morning Americano (Strength 5)- a full-bodied and robust American-style coffee
Fired Up (Strength 6)- a powerful, espresso-style blend created with dark-roasted beans

The OXO French Press is available from Lakeland and has a RRP of £35.
