Great food and a warm atmosphere

27 Aug Tuttons Covent Garden

If you’re a lover of great food, quality produce and a warm friendly atmosphere, Tuttons in Covent Garden is the ideal place for you.

Tuttons is situated on the east side of the historic Covent Garden piazza, overlooking the hustle and bustle of the markets. The restaurant offers a classically English menu focusing on seasonal dishes from British suppliers. Tuttons also has a bar area where you can enjoy their extensive range of wines and Champagne by the glass, carafe or bottle. They also have a fabulous range of bar food available.

Tuttons also has a private dining area which is situated below the main restaurant. There are two areas available; one comfortably seats 18 around a large oval table, and accommodates up to 30 guests for a standing drinks reception. The other comfortably seats 28 around a horseshoe table arrangement and up to 50 guests for a standing drinks reception. These areas are brilliant for parties, formal meetings and canapé receptions. These rooms do not have a hire fee, and have no minimum spend, you just have to dine from one of their set menus.

I visited Tuttons with my husband and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We visited on a Tuesday evening and the first thing that struck me was how lively and busy the restaurant was. We were greeted at the door by a very polite friendly hostess who took our names and showed us to our seats. We sat in the heart of the restaurant so we could fully appreciate the warm, sociable atmosphere of the restaurant.

Our waiter throughout the meal was very attentive and friendly. He made sure we had everything we needed and would ensure our glasses were always topped up.

The food was absolutely wonderful. We both had a main course and a dessert. For my main course I had roast rump of lamb with salsa verde potatoes, curly kale & red wine sauce. I asked for the lamb to be cooked ‘medium’ and it was. The lamb was very tender, the potatoes were delicious and the curly kale was cooked perfectly.

My husband had the 8oz Sirloin steak with chips. His steak was cooked exactly as he ordered it, medium-rare, and the chips were lovely and crisp. The presentation of both dishes was absolutely beautiful.

The desserts we had were just as lovely. I had the special of the day, which was a lemon tart with clotted cream. This too was delicious; the pastry was light and the lemon filling was wonderfully smooth and tangy. My husband had the dark & white chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream. This dessert was mouth-watering; the brownie and the chocolate sauce was lovely and rich.

Tuttons is a fantastic restaurant to visit. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Having eaten at Tuttons, I completely understand why the restaurant is so busy. I will definitely be visiting Tuttons again.
